Travis Dewey Dickey Jr., 75, passed away May 15, 2011 in Dallas, Texas after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family T. D. was born on May 12, 1936 in Dallas Texas, to the late 011ie Rich and Travis Dewey Dickey. He attended Highland Park Schools and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1954. While attending S.M.U. he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order before graduating with a degree in Business Administration in 1958. He met and married Martha Rainer in 1962 and together they were blessed with two children, Travis D. Dickey 111 and Malinda Elizabeth Dickey, all of whom survive him along with a much beloved grandson, Travis Dewey Dickey IV. In addition he is survived by his brother Roland Dickey, wife Maurine, his sister, Elizabeth, husband Bob Mills, an aunt, Marian Rich of Waco, and sister in law Nancy Rainer Brown. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Stephanie Dowdall, Marshall Mills, Roland Dickey, Cullen Dickey, their spouses and Brittany Brown, as well as sister in law, Lindy Rainer. As Chairman of the Board, T.D., along with his brother Roland expanded the network of Dickey's Barbecue Pits, founded by their father in 1941, throughout 39 states. T.D. devoted his time, energy, and passion to the Salesmanship Club of Dallas and their fund raising arm, the Byron Nelson Golf Tournament. He served as president of the Salesmanship Club in 2000. T.D.'s ready wit and generous spirit brought him a wealth of friends and he will be greatly missed. Services will be in the Sanctuary of Park Cities Baptist Church on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 2:30 with a reception immediately following in Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Salesmanship Club of Dallas, The Senior Source, or a charity of your choice.
