OBITUARY
John A. Mottaz, an old and respected citizen of this town, died Saturday morning after a very brief illness.
Mr. Mottaz was born in Switzerland, August 19, 1820, and was maried to Miss Louise Chevalley, March 23, 1852. Having poor health in that country he decided to come to America, and he and family arrived her June 12, 1868, where he has made his home since.
His remains were interred in the Hardin cemetery, Sunday evening, in the presence of a large concourse of sympathizing friends.
While the old gentleman could not speak the English language, yet he made himself very agreeable to all, having a kind gesture for those he met on the street or called at his home.
His aged companion, three sons, Julius, John and Louis, and one daughter, Miss Jennie, survive him and mourn his loss, and all of whom have the profound sympathy of their acquaintances.
