Mr. Gerald "Jerry" Bredthauer, 71, of Murray, died Thursday, May 19, 2011 at his home. Mr. Bredthauer was born in Scotia, Nebraska on January 24, 1940 to the late Alvin Bredthauer and Arlene Eyerly Bredthauer. Mr. Bredthauer retired from Wilmington High School in Wilmington, IL as guidance counselor after 25 years. Mr. Bredthauer was a guidance counselor and/or taught in public schools for a total of 31 years. Mr. Bredthauer was a member of the Lutheran Church.
In addition to his parents Mr. Bredthauer was preceded in death by his father and mother in law, Leland and Marie Gore and by one brother in law, Dr. Thomas Harwood.
Mr. Bredthauer is survived by his wife, Joyce Bredthauer of Murray, married in Springfield, IL on April 30, 1966; daughter, Jennifer Vanhook and husband Michael of Calera, AL; three sisters, Phyllis Harwood, Sandra Gielow and husband Bruce, Betty Panepucci and husband Craig all of Elgin, IL; also surviving is one brother, Jim Bredthauer and wife Pera of Belvidere, IL.
