Grace Morehead, 91, of Hawarden with family present, peacefully passed away Friday, February 25, 2011 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the American Lutheran Church in Hawarden with Rev. Erma Wolf officiating. Burial will follow in the Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Monday, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden.The family prefers memorials to Hospice of Siouxland.
Grace Morehead was born October 24, 1919 in Klemme, Iowa to John and Henrietta (Huisman) Osterkamp. The family later moved to the Ireton area where she met, and on June 16, 1942, married Harold Marienau. Harold passed away April 11, 1943. Grace married Keith Morehead on July 14, 1945. Keith and Grace farmed in the Hawarden area until Keith's death on June 22, 1998.
Grace was a member of the Hawarden American Lutheran Church and was active for many years in Ladies Aid. Grace was a caring and giving person to all she came in contact with. She enjoyed visiting and spending time with her family and friends; especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, flowers, and her dogs.
She is survived by her two sons, James (Carolyn) Marienau of Ankeny, Iowa and Larry (Suzie) Morehead of Hawarden; a brother, Edward (Joann) Osterkamp of Alcester, South Dakota; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; an infant daughter, Nancy Lee Morehead; brothers, William, John, Jr., and Richard Osterkamp; and sisters, Lena Oulman, Elizabeth Heitzig, Minnie Pitzenberger, Francis Heck, Mary Harris, Christina Dwello, and Kathryn Oulman.
