Donald James Blanchard Sr., 78, a native of Terrebonne Parish and a resident of Houma, died at 8:18 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2001.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at Chauvin Funeral Home.
Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
He is survived by his wife, Cherry Medice Blanchard of Houma; two sons, Gerard "Jerry" Blanchard and wife, Linda, and Thomas "Tommy" Blanchard and wife, Mary, all of Houma; two brothers, Raymond and James Blanchard, both of Houma; two grandchildren, Jerriod Blanchard of Houma, and Brett Blanchard and wife, Min, of Ocean Springs, Calif.; and two great-grandchildren, Gerrett Blanchard of Houma, and Asia Blanchard of Ocean Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raoul and Bernice Roddy Blanchard; one son, Donald James Blanchard Jr.; and two brothers, Millard and Allen Blanchard.
He was a gauger for 20 years at Tennaco, a U.S. Army World War II veteran with the 739th tank battalion, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3100, a member of the American Legion and a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.
