Casketbearers were Rodney and Dan Johnson, Scott Moore, Donovan Arnold, Les Schumacher and Barry Çlute.
Eunice Besteland was born Feb. 20, 1895, at Hanley Falls, Minn. In 1898 she moved with her family to the Carpio area, where she was reared. From 1913 to 1914 she trained to become a licensed practical nurse at Deaconess Hospital, Grand Forks. She married Lennie Nyre Nov. 25, 1916 in Minot. They farmed near Carpio in Mayland Township, Ward County. He died May 8, 1936, and in 1938 she moved to Carpio. From 1943 to 1945 she lived in Helena, Mont. She then returned to Carpio and operated the Carpio Cafe. In the 1950s and 1960s she worked as a licensed practical
nurse in the Seattle and Los Angeles areas. She then lived in Alaska and Germany before moving to Minot.
She had been a member of Carpio Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid.
Surviving are: daughters, Mrs. Ed (Agnes) Haaland, Lake Havasu City,
Ariz., Mrs. Mart (Gladwyn) Moore, Redfield, S.D., Mrs. Arch (Eunice) Hall,
Roseburg, Ore., Mrs. Alvah (Eldrice) Johnson, Carpio, and Mrs. Richard
(Carol) Tomlinson, Richiand, Wash.; a son, Harvey, Garden Grove, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Caroline Arnold, Seattle.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter and a son in infancy.
