Ref. Miss Fannie Matilda Cramer -- The funeral of Miss Fannie Matilda Cramer was held at the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. A. W. Cramer in Monticello last Saturday afternoon. Miss Cramer died at a hospital in Des Moines on the 27th of August at the age of 82 years. The funeral party which accompanied the body to Monticello included Senator Fred Gilchrist and wife of Laurens, ex-Senator Joe Allen, wife and daughter, of Des Moines, Messrs. Clell and William Gilchrist of Pocahontas, and Miss Maud Gilchrist of Des Moines. All were relatives of the decedent. Miss Cramer was born at Hubbard, Ohio, and came with her parents to Jones County, Iowa, sometime during the sixties, where the parents purchased what was then known as the John McConnon farm, and which has ever since remained in the Cramer family, being now occupied by Fred C. Cramer, a nephew of the deceased. Miss Cramer was a primary teacher of some distinction in her line, having been principal of the primary department of several city schools in Iowa at various times. Her early teaching was done in Ohio and in Jones county. She retired from active educational work about fifteen years ago, and made her home with her sister, Mrs. Gilchrist, in Pocahontas county. Later she went with her sister, Mrs. Gilchrist, to Des Moines, where they lived together and were cared for by Mrs. Gilchrist's daughter, Maud, until the death of Mrs. Gilchrist a year ago. The funeral services at Monticello, were conducted by Rev. A. E. Coe of the Methodist Episcopal church, and burial was made in the Castle Grove cemetery beside the graves of the decedent's parents.
