His funeral will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Keith Walters will officiate and burial will be in Oakboro Cemetery.
Born June 15, 1933, in Stanly County, he was a son of the late Tommy F. and Ora Barbee Kennedy and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was an order coordinator for Fieldcrest Cannon in Kannapolis with 45 years of service to the company. He was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Baucom Kennedy of the home; a son, Donnie Kennedy and special friend, Tammy King, of Polkton; a grandson, Jamie L. Kennedy of Charlotte; and four sisters, Rachel Smith of Concord, Elizabeth Frey of Monroe, Brenda Hinson and Patricia Kennedy, both of Locust.
Two sisters, Helen Austin and Jewel Brooks, preceded him in death.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hartsell Funeral Home. At other times they will meet at the home.
