CLEMMONS, NC ~ Mrs. Mary Alice Dunkin Hendrickson Gleason, 64, passed away Friday, March 25, 2011, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Center in Winston-Salem after a long battle with cancer.

A loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and working professional, she will be missed by all who knew her.

She was born in Muncie, Indiana on February 23, 1947, to the late Truitt and Marguerite Dunkin.

She was a graduate of Selma, Indiana High School and Ball State Teachers College in Muncie, Indiana.

Mrs. Gleason was the Acquisitions/Cataloging Librarian at Womble, Carlyle, Sandridge and Rice and a member of the Knowledge Management Team.

She was an active member of Clemmons Presbyterian Church and enjoyed walking, reading and hockey.

Prior to moving to North Carolina in 1985, Mrs. Gleason was the Director of the Hartford City, Indiana Public Library and former Director of the Dunkirk, Indiana Public Library. She was also a Past President of the Dunkirk Business and Professional Women's Club.

Surviving are her husband, Norman of Clemmons; a son, Craig and special friend, Katie Thigpen, of Raleigh; a sister, Mrs. Ruth (William) Denton of Wake Forest; two nephews, Rob (Janet) Denton of Katy, Texas and Chuck (Kelly) Denton and their son Alex of Raleigh. Also surviving are a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mrs. Ann and Richard Sundin of Las Vegas, Nevada, and their three sons and families.

A memorial service, A Celebration of Life, will be held at Clemmons Presbyterian Church at 3930 Clemmons Road (Hwy 158), in Clemmons at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2011.

The family will receive friends in the Narthex following the service.

The family has requested no flowers.
