Katherine Wilhelmina Henricks was born June 10, 1903, McHenry, Foster County, North Dakota. She was the second of ten children born to Ben N. & Katherine (Opitz) Henricks. Her father was born in Norway and her mother in Austria.

In 1908, the family moved to Kenmare and Katherine was enrolled in the Saint Agnes Catholic Parochial School. The family later relocated to Lansford, Bottineau County where she was reared. She completed her education at Lansford and worked for a time as a telephone operator there.

Katherine married John Joseph Heffern on January 9, 1922 in Bottineau, ND. They were the parents of two children, Alice (1923) and Mary Ellen (1925). They made their home on their farm Mount Rose Township, Bottineau County until the late 1920's when they moved to Chola in Lockwood Township in Renville County. John was an elevator agent at this place. John died on January 3, 1938, leaving Katherine to raise the girls. She then married Emil Dave Gardner on May 15, 1939 in Burke County. They made their home in the back of the Gardner Bar in Niobe. The marriage was short lived with a divorce occurring the next year.

Katherine then married Walter Hennix on September 10, 1941 at Plentywood, Montana. After their marriage they lived on the Andrew Nelson farm, two miles south and 1/2 mile east of Niobe. In the 1960's they moved to the Alfred Jorgensen farm, three miles east and one mile north of Niobe. They made their home here until 1970, when they moved to Kenmare, ND. In August 1981 they moved to Makoti, ND as Katherine daughters Alice and Mary Ellen lived there.

Walter died that same year, with his death occurring December 4, 1981 at Minot, ND. Katherine continued to make her home in Makoti until 1988 when she entered the Good Samaritan Center in Parshall, ND. Katherine died in the hospital at Minot, ND on February 6, 1990. Funeral Services were held in the Good Samaritan Center in Parshall, ND on February 9th. Interment was in the Elmdale Swedish Lutheran Cemetery, Elmdale Township, Ward County, North Dakota.
