Gust Andrew Hennix, a farmer, in Ortonville, Minnesota married Marie (Maria) Nelson/Larsson Hennix. They were married by the Justice of the Peace, Hayden French, with witnesses Noah and Josephine Hennix.
Gust immigrated to the United States in 1881 and worked for the railroad. He was on the crew that built the railroad trestle a few miles west of Minot, North Dakota. Later he decided to farm and moved to Big Stone County, Minnesota where his brother, Noah, was farming. He purchased 80 acres of land in Big Stone County from the federal government and was granted title on February 4, 1891. Gust and Maria became US citizens in 1904.
The Hennix family lived and farmed in the Ortonville, MN area until 1908 when they moved to North Dakota and purchased a farm in Elmdale Township, Ward County near Niobe, North Dakota (NW 1/4 Section 6 Township 160-N Range 89-W).
During the 1920 census, Gust, Marie and five children were living in Elmdale Township, Ward County, North Dakota. Gust and Marie farmed until Gust's death in 1929 when Marie moved to Niobe, North Dakota where she resided until her death.
Gust and Marie are buried in Elmdale Lutheran Cemetery, Niobe, North Dakota. They had six children:
