He was born in Morgan County on January 23, 1919, a son of the late Charles Brent and Claudia Hovermale Cain.
Mr. Cain was a machine operator for the West Virginia State Road Commission and a veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Donna Jean Beddow Cain, at the home; children from his first marriage includes three sons, Charles R. Cain, Jr., Bunker Hill; David R. Cain, Fort Bragg, N.C; Terry W. Cain, Fort Benning, Ga; one daughter, Sharon Cox, Berkeley Springs; four grandchildren. Stepchildren surviving are Michael Beddow and Dennis Beddow, David Golden and Terry Golden, all of Berkeley Springs; one step-grandchild; two sisters, Julia Clark, Berkeley Springs; Nellie Lutman, Hancock, Md; three brothers, Oscar Cain, Berkeley Springs; Ralph Cain and Joseph Cain, both of Martinsburg.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. at the Highland United Methodist Church, the Rev. Ken Dyar officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery, with military graveside rites.
