He was born May 19, 1930, in Clear Creek to Walter and Lucille (Wampler) May. He graduated from Bloomington High School class of 1948.
He served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He retired from Indiana Bell Telephone (Ameritech) with 44 years of service.
He was president of the Communication Workers of America Union for 15 years, and a member of the American Legion and Telephone Pioneers of America.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Barbara (Todd) May; three sons, Bradley May and his wife, Debra, and their children, Jonathan, Daniel and Rachel Byam, Michael May and his wife, Melissa, Todd May and his wife, Alexandra, and their three children, Catherine, Benjamin and Grace; and his beloved aunts, Frances Moore and Dorothy May.
Per his request, there will be no visitation. A private ceremony will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Clear Creek Christian Church and Clear Creek Christian School.
