Sandra Lee Markby, 51, of Leechburg, died Saturday, May 14, 2011, in UPMC Montefiore, Oakland. Born Jan. 2, 1960, in Kittanning, she was a daughter of Ruby M. (Boozer) Markby, of Gilpin, and the late James B. Markby, who died Jan. 5, 2004. She was employed as a paralegal for 20 years by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C. She was a 1977 graduate of Leechburg Area High School and a 1980 graduate of The University of Pittsburgh, where she earned a bachelor's degree in psychology. Sandra enjoyed reading, watching TV, working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, playing board games and collecting glassware and ceramics. In addition to her mother, she is survived by a sister, Patricia L. Markby, of Pittsburgh; several aunts and cousins; and her cat, Kushka. At the request of her family, there will be no public visitation. Private funeral ceremonies will be held in CLAWSONS, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051. Officiating will be the Rev. Kevin E. Anderson, pastor of Forks-Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gilpin. Interment in Forks-Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Gilpin.
