Robert William Downs, Sr., 62, of Marshall, MO, died Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia, MO.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Memorials may be made to the Veterans Hospital. Born August 4, 1948, in Marshall, MO, he was the son of the late Joseph Stephen Downs and Marsha Nadine Mueller Downs. He had lived in Marshall his entire life and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving in Vietnam. He had worked for the city of Marshall as an animal control officer and was also a driver for the OATS bus.

Survivors include one son, Robert W. Downs Jr. of Marshall; one daughter, Michelle Lawrence and husband John of Marshall; two brothers, Kenneth Downs and David Downs both of Marshall; two sisters, Joyce Lillich of Liberty, MO and Sharon Murdock of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Denny, one sister, Janet, and twin niece and nephew, Jennifer Marie Downs and Daniel Adam Downs.
