Faye Wasson was born the second of four children to William James and Matilda nee Strand Wasson in Havelock, Nebraska, which is now a district in the northeast corner of Lincoln, Nebraska. Her mother died when Faye was 18, and her father died 7 years later. She became the mother for her little sister, Bessie, but her brothers also lived with her and her husband off and on until they married or established their own home.

Faye and Wylie had two daughters, Lois and Erma Vivian, who died at the ages of 12 and 14 respectively. After their second daughter died, their son Thomas "Tommy" was born, in October of 1942. Tommy ultimately graduated from the University of Nebraska, married Joanne Sullivan in 1960, and followed his father's footsteps selling insurance in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he died in 2006. Faye lost both her husband and older brother Dan in 1951; her younger brother Edward died in 1948. Her sister Bessie married Lewis Webster and moved first to Texas and then to California, which gave vacation destinations for Faye.

Faye was very active in service organizations. She held offices in the Rebekah Lodge No. 150 of Havelock, including District Deputy President (1930) and Financier (1940). She also held offices in the Martha Washington Chapter of the O.E.S. (Order of the Eastern Star), No. 53 including Electa (1945) and Conductress (1948). The photo on this memorial is the one used when she was elected the Dist. Deputy President in 1930.
