Jacob farmed land that he bought in Clay County, and was the Pastor of Faubion Chapel, officiating at many of the weddings that took place in that community.
His death was said to have been caused by a kick from a "gentle old mare" he was bridling.
No stone is found in the family burying ground to commemorate his life and death, but he left an impression on those who knew him and a host of descendants to honor him.
