In early 1920's James wife Lillie and children moved to Calvert City area near Gilbertsville KY on Bristo St.
On February 21, 1926 James was found dead near a Van Winkle boat dock under a tree.
James was proceeded in death by his parents and brother Peter C Ham and his wife Tina Martina Ruley. James is survived by brother Thomas William Ham (Frances Melvina Mattingly) and sister Eva Bell Ham (George Thomas Coursey). James is also survived by wife Lillie May (nee Banfield), sons John Paul Ham (Mona Opel Park), Boyd Freeman Ham, Robert Leland Ham (Wilma Estelle Ramsey), R A Ham (Wanda Eulean Johnson), and Vernon Preston Ham (Mildred Vee Johnson), daughters Maglene Ham (John William Holland,Sr), Eula May Ham (Obra E Watson), and Nora Lorene Ham (Olin Bryson).
James was buried in the Calvert City Cemetery in Calvert City, Marshall Co., KY.
