Gideon, age 81, was the son of James and Florida (Leach) Monday. He was the husband of Alice Butler Monday. They were married in June, 1944. He was preceded in passing by his wife, Alice, in May, 1968. He married Ruby Irene (Goins) Monday in Nov., 1969. Friends called at Allore Funeral Home, where services were held. The Rev. Roy Southerland of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church officiated. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, Mi. Gideon was employed for 32 years by the Consolidated Paper Company, Southside Plant before retiring, and spending time doing woodcarving, hunting and fishing which he enjoyed. He was a member of Stewart Road Christian Ministries, Monroe, and the LaFollette Church of God, LaFollette, Tn. He was survived by his wife, Ruby; four sons, Ron, Dennis, Randy, and Daryl, all of Monroe; and two daughters, Geraldine and Sharyl; his brother Carl of LaFollette, Tn., and two sisters, Emma (Amos) Goins of LaFollette, and Melvada Marlow of Monroe; 15 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by his first wife Alice, and several brothers and a sister.
