BLACKFOOT - Clarence William Lyon, former Idaho resident, died in Scio, Oreg., Thursday. He was 73.

He was born Aug. 29, 1901, at Basalt to Charles & Saloma Hymas Lyon, and attended Firth schools. He married Marie Bailey April 1, 1925, and they were later divorced. He married Leola Ostberg Higgins in 1944.

As a young man, he sheared sheep and owned a threshing machine with his father and brother, Hugh. He was employed by the Utah-Idaho Sugar Co. and was a foreman in the Blackfoot, Mont., and Topenish, Wash., sugar factories. He retired in 1966 from the Toppenish factory and moved to Scio.

He loved the outdoors and was an ardent fisherman and hunter.

He was a member of the LDS Church.

Survivors include his widow, of Scio, Ore.; three sons and a daughter: Don and Gorgon Lyon, both of Albany, Ore.: Edward, Scio, and Mrs. Bob (Donna) Schuermyer, Portland, Oreg.; three stepchildren, Elden Higgins and Mrs. Vida Johnson, both in Oregon, and Mrs. Bonnie Ford, in Washington; nine grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters: Hugh, Menan; Everett, Firth; Norman, Boise; Mrs. Peter (Lyla) Hansen, Salmon; Mrs. Eugene (Elda) Collier, Inglewood, Calif. and Mrs. Rex (Nina) Rowbury, Blackfoot.

He was preceded in death by a son and a grandchild.

Funeral services will be in Scio, Ore., Monday, and the body will be returned to Blackfoot where services will be conducted at the Sandburg Hill Funeral Home Wednesday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Basalt cemetery.
