Walter C. Albert was 83 when he entered eternal life. He was a retired machine assembler and amateur showman who lived in Huntingdon Valley in Montgomery County.
For 45 years, Mr. Albert worked as a machine assembler for the former Miller Lock Co. in Philadelphia, which through a series of buyouts has become Eaton, Yale and Towne and now Eaton Corp. Walter retired from the firm in 1977.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, he attended the Frankford High School. In 1959, he to Feasterville in Bucks County, where he lived for 20 years until moving 14 years ago to Gloria Dei Manor in Huntingdon Valley.
At Gloria Dei Manor, Mr. Albert was active in several of the facility's organizations, including the 50 Plusers Club and the club's Showtimers Group.
He sang and danced with Showtimers, which staged skits and programs regularly for residents, and also appeared in programs at the Gloria Dei Church and at other churches, senior centers and children's facilities in Montgomery County.
Mr. Albert also wrote music, lyrics and poems for amateur productions and performed magic shows in addition to telling stories about people and the hats they wore.
He was a member of Gloria Dei Church and its choir.
Walter enjoyed working with wood and made birdhouses and feeders, which were sold at the Happy Shop at Gloria Dei Church. The money from the sale of the items went to the church.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edna Barth Albert; a son, Walter C. Albert Jr.; a brother, two sisters, four grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.
