Winnie was the sixth child born to James Allen Fontaine and Georgeanna Frierson McLemore. She was my beloved Grandmother. I grew up listening to her stories about growing up in Mississippi. It was listening to these stories that made me hunger to know more about my ancestors, where they came from, who they were and what they did. Because of her I became a genealogist. I have researched many family lines for others and myself in the last 30 years. I miss her every day of my life and can't imagine my life if she had not been a part of it, she is still a part of me. She spent her last Christmas with me and my children. I will always cherish that memory. She knew she was sick, but kept a brave face. When she returned to California in January, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She lived until August. I know she is the Angel who watches over me.
