BROWNE, Joseph David went to heaven on May 11, 2011 as a result of an accident. He was born on August 19, 1994 in Traverse City, the son of Charles and Karen (Kushion) Browne. Joe was in the 11th grade at Forest Area High School. His hobbies included archery, hunting, 4 wheeling, rock climbing, kayaking, dirt biking, woodworking, and leather crafting. Joe was the first 12 year old in the state of Michigan to shoot a bear. Everyone knew his favorite ride was the "Buzzard". Joe was a member of the Walton Junction Sportsman's Club and St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Joe is survived by his parents, Charlie and Karen; his sisters, Katie and Ashley; his grandparents, David and Mary Janet Kushion of St. Charles; Charles and Ruth Browne of Hemlock; great-grandparents, Sylvia Kushion of St. Charles and Helen Oldenburg of Hemlock; his aunt Kelly Latty of Saginaw; and his uncle Michael and Aunt Tracey Kushion of Hemlock; his cousins, Matt and Jessica Latty of Saginaw; Jonathan and Brandon Kushion of Hemlock and countless extended family and friends. Joe is now united in heaven with his uncle, Troy Browne. Visitation will be on Saturday, May 14th from 5:00 until 8:00 pm with a 7:30 pm scripture service and Sunday from 1:00 until 8:00 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday at 11:00 am at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Fife Lake with Reverend Norman Dickson officiating. Memorials may be donated to Forest Area Community Schools Wood Shop Class. KALKASKA — A teenager died in a crash involving an off-road vehicle in Springfield Township. The Kalkaska County sheriff's office said Joseph D. Browne, 16, was killed Wednesday after he was thrown from the ORV and crushed by the rolling vehicle. The driver, Zachery Cameron, also 16, was trying to climb a hill near West Sharon Road, but started backing down when he was unable make it to the top. He lost control and the vehicle rolled over, throwing Browne from the ORV. Browne was killed as the vehicle continued to roll. Browne was pronounced dead on the scene. Cameron and a female passenger, Gabriel Barber, 15, were treated at the scene and released. The accident remains under investigation.
