LAWSONVILLE, NC ~ Mr. George "Dewey" Rogers, 77, of Lawsonville, passed away Monday, April 16, 2007, at R.J. Reynolds-Patrick Memorial Hospital in Stuart, Va.
He was born in Stokes County March 5, 1930, to the late William Andy and Mattie Lee Nunn Rogers.
Mr. Rogers served his country in the U.S. Army and worked as a farmer and as a heating and air technician.
Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife, Hilda A. Rogers of the home; a son, David Andy Rogers of Lawsonville; a stepdaughter, Audrey Hall of Westfield; a brother, Junior Rogers of Collinstown; a sister, Nellie Martin of Asbury; two step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.
Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carl and Tom Rogers; and a sister, Stella Beasley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at Francisco Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Rickey Rogers and Pastor Doug Brinkley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery and will have full military rites by King American Legion Post 290. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, April 18, at Cox-Needham Funeral Home in Danbury.
