Funeral services for Rufus R. Robertson, 77, 2131 W. Texas St., will be held in West Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. He died today in Guadalupe Medical Center.

Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Wesley Ward of Bethel Baptist Church.

Robertson was born in Glenwood, Ark., on Nov. 20, 1910. He moved to Carlsbad in 1937. In 1939, he married Lucille Woods of Nashville, Ark., and they made their home in Carlsbad since then.

He was employed at International Minerals and Chemical Corporation for 21 years and then owned Foodtime Grocery and El Rey Motel, retiring in 1976. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Juanita Doerr, in 1970.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille, Carlsbad; two sons, Wayne of Palestine, Texas, and William of Carlsbad; one daughter, Linda Baze, Carlsbad; four brothers, Woodrow and Tom, both of Hot Springs, Ark., Sam of North Richland Hills, Texas, and Jasper Tackett of Fort Worth, Texas; one sister, Savilla McAteen, Carlsbad; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
