ROSA GRANGER

CARLSBAD--A funeral Mass for Rosa A. Granger, 79, of Valverde Street, will be 10 a.m. Monday at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park. A Franciscan Wake will be held at 7 p.m. today at San Jose Catholic Church.

West Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Rosa Acosta Granger died Friday, June 21, 2002, at home. She was born March 14, 1928, in Fort Davis, Texas, to Perfecto Acosta and Dolores Elizandes Acosta. Her family moved to Carlsbad when she was an infant. She married John Florez Granger June 13, 1940, in Monahans, Texas.

Mrs. Granger worked as a nurse for 18 years at Lakeview Christian Home and Landsun Homes and as a private-duty nuse. She was a member of San Jose Catholic Church and the Secular Franciscan Order and a former member of League of United Latin American Citizens and International Good Neighbor Council. She loved gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on March 16, 1969; a daughter, Ruth Campos; and five brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her sons, Bobby Granger of Loving, Ruben Granger of Carlsbad and Leroy Granger of Colorado; daughters, Lorine Campos of Albuquerque, Mary Helen Espino of Loving and Jeanette Wallace of Carlsbad; sisters, Maggie Lopez of Malaga and Irene Campos of Carlsbad; and 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are her grandchildren, Ronald Campos, Raymond Gerald Campos, Tommy Espino, Paul John Espino, Ruben "Rene" Granger Jr. and Anthony Granger. Honorary pallbearers are all her other grandchildren.
