Passes Away Monday at 9:00 a.m.
Funeral Tuesday Afternoon

D. B. Herreman was born in Ohio, Aug. 12, 1835 and moved with his parents to Columbus County, Wis., when but a small boy where he grew to manhood and on Nov. 11, 1857 he was married to Miss Polly Aldrich, who passed away, Dec. 9, 1916.

They were the parents of six children, three sons and three daughters - Esther Ann dying when 8 months age, Alvin Eugene dying between two and three years of age and Purdy May dying when 15 years old, and Warren H., Wallace D., and Cora Janette Harding survive, all living in Clear Lake.

On Feb. 13, 1865 Mr. Herreman enlisted in Co. I, Forty-ninth Wisconsin Infantry and served until the close of the Civil war.

He with his family settled in Lincoln township, this county, in October 1882 and lived on their farm there until September 1, 1891 when they removed to Clear Lake, where they resided until their decease.

Mr. Herreman was a devoted and esteemed member of the Tom Howard, Post, No. 101, G. A. R., in which he had held the position of commander and other prominent offices and will be sadly missed by his old comrades.

The funeral services were conducted Tuesday by the Rev. W. D. Hartsough at 2:30 p. m. at the late home in the presence of a goodly number of comrades, members of the W. R. C. and S. of V's. and a large assembly of neighbors and sympathizing friends.

Mr. Herreman was an esteemed citizen intensely loyal to his country, his comrades, his friends and his family and will be greatly missed in the home, in the Post and in the community.

The remains were interred in the Clear Lake cemetery besides his wife and deceased children.

DWIGHT B. HERREMAN, farmer. Sec. 11; P. 0. Bellefountain; was born Aug. 12, 1835, in Euclid, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio ; son of William Herreman, who came to Wisconsin in May, 1849, and settled in the town of Farmington, Jefferson Co., and lived there two years ; then came to Columbia Co., and settled in the town of Marcellon, where he has since resided ; was Postmaster in Marcellon eighteen years, and resigned in October, 1879. Dwight B. lived at home until he was 20 years old ; then went to Rice Co., Minn., and lived there one summer, returning to Marcellon in the fall. He was married, Nov. 11, 1857, to Polly Aldrich, who was born June 29, 1839, in Allegany Co., N. Y., daughter of Gideon P. Aldrich, who came to Wisconsin in 184!, and now lives in Wyocena, Columbia Co. Mr. and Mrs. Herreman have four children-Warren, Cara, Prudy and Wallace, all at home. He has held the offices of Justice of the Peace and Supervisor ; he learned the blacksmith's trade of his father, when a boy, and now has a shop on his farm and carries on that business in addition to his farming. He enlisted March 13. 1865, in the 49th W. V. I., Co. L, and was discharged at the close of the war; spent most of his time in Missouri hunting "bushwhackers." He has lost two children-Esther Ann, born March 29, 1863, and died Dec. 16, 1863; Alvin Eugene, born Feb. 11, 1872, and died April 1, 1874. He has 120 acres of land, and is a Republican.
