Elmer Anderson
COLUMBIA FALLS -- Elmer Anderson, 75, a retired farmer, died in the state Veterans Home Friday.
He was a resident of Gilford.
He was born March 1, 1903, in Vang, N. D., the son of Christian and Emma Anderson. He moved with his parents to Gilford when he was nine and completed his schooling there. Later he farmed in the Gilford area until he enlisted in the Army during World War II.
After his discharge, he returned to Gilford where he continued farming until his retirement in the 1960s due to ill health. He entered the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City in 1974. He came to the Montana Veterans Home at Columbia Falls in 1977.
He was a member of the Eagles Lodge 66 in Havre.
He is survived by one brother, Hans, Seattle; two sisters, Inga Floe, Anacortes, Wash., and Ruby Savage, McKinleyville, Calif.; three nephews and one niece.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Veterans Home Chapel here Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ron Paulson of Our Savior's Lutheran Church officiating. Military honors will be performed by the Flathead Valley Veterans and burial will be in the Veterans Home Cemetery.
