Vinie appears under several names—"Lavinina" (1910 LCT Census); "Vina" A. (1920 LCT Census); "Vinia" (1921 marriage record to Ben Brown); "Vinie" (1930 Marshall CT Census); "Vina" (death certificate); "Vinie" (her son Garland's 1947 wedding license)…and so on. This is consistent with any girl named Lavinia, or something similar.

Vinie was the only known daughter of William "Billy" Faulkner and his second wife, Martha Adaline "Aunt Matt Ab" McGee.

She was married to Earnest Jackson Ashby—the son of William Asbury Ashby and Rachel Ella Pitts—on 16 August 1903 in LCT and, following his death, to Benjamin "Ben" Monroe Brown, identified in some cases as Henry Ben Brown, son of William D. Brown and Martha "Mattie" Deal, on 18 February 1923 in LCT.

Vinie's obit states she was buried in Spring Place Cemetery – this name is difficult to pin down these days, as the graveyard is now known as "Short Cemetery."

She was the mother of Auldon Jackson; Ethel M.; Garland Asberry; Rachel; John L.; and Marvin C. Ashby.

Marvin and Ernest are buried in one of the Ashby Graveyards in LCT. (It is of note that Marvin (b. 2 February 1914) was killed in the infamous Flying Circus crash at Lincoln County Fairgrounds and died in Fayetteville on 27 April 1930.) Rachel, who died at four in 1919 of diphtheria, is buried there, also.

Garland and Auldon are buried in the Talley Cemetery in Lewisburg, Marshall Co., TN. We have no information on John after the 1910 LCT census or on Ethel after the 1920 LCT census.

Tom, her brother referred to in the obit below, was widely known as "Kip" Faulkner. Maggie, mentioned as a sister, was in fact a full sister to Press (below) and thus Vinie's half-sister.
