CHARLES RICHARD HOBBS

Charles Richard Hobbs, 57, a former resident of Chariton, died Monday upon arrival at the Hoopeston Memorial Hospital in Hoopeston, Ill. Mr. Hobbs moved to Hoopeston in 1963 as head football coach at the Hoopeston-East Lynn High School, retiring in August of 1978 following heart surgery. At present he was the industrial arts and wood-craft teacher.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor, of Hoopeston; a daughter, Deborah Mantia of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Joe Blaskovich and Mrs. William Pirtle, both of Des Moines; one brother, Robert Hobbs of Miamisburg, Ohio; two step-sons, Randy Knoll, stationed in Naples, Italy with the U.S. Navy and Greg Knoll of Steelville, Ill.; one step-daughter, Crysta Hunt of Hoopeston and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Hoopeston with Pastor Jack Wagoner conducting. Graveside services will be conducted Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Chariton Cemetery.
