Emmitt Wilson Baldwin, 97, of Pamplin, died May 10, 2011 at the Woodland in Farmville. He was the husband of the late Florence Covington Baldwin.

Born in Pamplin, on December 1, 1913, he was a son of the late William H. and Allie Davis Baldwin. Wilson was a member of Piney Ridge United Methodist Church, and proudly served his country during WWII as a member of the US Army. He was a retired employee of the N&W Railroad with over 40 years of service, and a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Maintenance of Way.

He is survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, including special great nieces, Janis Bunce and Jill Hrynciw; great-great nieces Suzanne Bunce and Stephanie Bunce.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Elizabeth Baldwin, Hattie Richardson, Merle Tolley, and Mamie Green; and two brothers, Edgar A. Baldwin, Sr. and Walker Baldwin.

Funeral services will be held 11:00a.m., Friday, May 13, 2011, at Piney Ridge United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Robert Green. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military rites accorded by the combined Honor Guards of American Legion Post #104 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 9855.
