ERWIN DELBERT CARY
GLADIOLI FARMER, DIES

Erwin Delbert Cary was born near Frontier, Michigan on March 24, 1870, son of Seymour Cary and Betty Jane (Fidler) Cary. The early part of his life he spent in and about Frontier.

On May 10, 1902 Delbert married Emma Amelia Hackett at Frontier, Michigan. For a number of years the couple lived at Hesperia, Michigan, where Mr. Cary was engaged in selling Real Estate.

In 1916 they came to Hillsdale where Delbert raised gladioli. Later they purchased a farm near Allen, Michigan, known as Glad-I-Saw Acres where bulbs have been shipped to every state in the union and to many foreign countries. They continued this work until his death.

In 1920 he and Mrs. Cary united with the Hillsdale United Brethren Church where their membership has been held for the past 20 years. During the past years he was very active in Christian service. Serving in many places as evangelist and singer and has helped many people come to Christ. He was also an artist of unusual ability and had several sacred pictures which he painted.

Erwin passed away at Allen, Michigan October 21, 1942 at the age of 72.
