CHARLES HULL JEWETT PASSES SUDDENLY AWAY

Octogenarian Suffers Heart Attack Sunday Evening – Was Lifelong Resident of Town of Sangerfield.

The death of Charles Hull Jewett occurred at his late home in Pleasant Valley just south of the Cherry Valley Turnpike, late Sunday evening. The end came after a heart attack. The deceased was 81 years old.

Mr. Jewett was born at Pleasant Valley May 13, 1850, the son of the late Lyman and Eliza Jewett. He has always resided on the ancestral farm and was a large hop grower and also raised many valuable Holsteins.

Mr. Jewett wed Miss Wealthy Clark in Virginia, December 24, 1872 and she passed away August 19, 1919.

On November 29, 1922, he married Miss Helen Gill of Utica.

Surviving besides the widow are a son Earl B. Jewett and two daughters, Mrs. Robert Wells of Sherrill and Mrs. Harold C. Mason of Sangerfield. There are also two grandsons and six grand-daughters.

The funeral was held from the late home Wednesday and interment was in the Sangerfield Cemetery.

The funeral of the late Charles Hull Jewett was held at his home in Pleasant Valley, Wednesday, September 16th at 2 pm with the Rev. Sherman Haven of Rochester, assisted by Rev. S. Hall Barrett, officiating. The active bearers were Norman R. Cowen, Gilbert Roberts, Dana Camp, Henry White, Edward Mason and George Shoemaker. The pall bearers were Daniel King, William Bensted, Stoddard Bently, Edward Richmond, Grove Loomis and William Evans.

Mr. Jewett was born May 13, 1850 in Pleasant Valley and lived his entire life there. He was well known and will be greatly missed by his many friends.
