When at the age of 8 he came to Illinois from Wisconsin together with his parents. Two sisters, Mrs. Martha Whiteside and Mary Dean, and two brothers, Henry and James, have preceded him in death.
On November 25th, 1879 he was united in marriage to Nancy Jane Johnson. To this union one child was born. Della Mae Childers, who resides on the old homestead west of Buckhorn, where Mr. Dean spent most of his active years engaged in farming and raising livestock.
He leaves to mourn his passing his devoted companion, an only daughter, a number of relatives and a host of friends.
Mr. Dean was a successful business man, truthful, upright and industrious in all his undertakings. He was a member of the M.E. church of Buckhorn and gave liberally toward its upkeep. He was a man of no bad habits, a good citizen, a true and lovable husband and father. What more could be expected of man?
