Lenore was born to Frank L. Champ and his wife Edith M. Abernathy. Lenore was a registered nurse in the US military. She was nurse to Joseph Gordon Mott in a military hospital. That's how they met. They fell in love and were married January 16, 1946 at West Overfield, Massachusetts, in the base chapel. Joseph was born March 24, 1911 in Ruthland, VT. He died in September 1990 in Bellevue, NE.

Lenore was the last of her siblings to die. They were: Bertha, Delbert, Ruth, Vivian, and Ralph.

Lenore and Joseph gave birth to two sons: Michael "Mick" (whose wife is Patty) of Omaha, and Joseph "Joe" (whose wife is Cathy) of San Antonio, TX.

Her funeral was March 8, 2011 at Bellevue (Nebraska) Memorial Chapel. She was buried that same day, next to her husband in Bellevue Cemetery, Bellevue, NE.

Lenore was a no-nonsense woman who was fun to know. She had a good sense of humor. One of her most common sayings was, "What is, is." She sturdily accepted life as it came.
