Earl Arbuthnot, son of Thomas and Jessie Arbuthnot, was born Oct 8, 1885, at Cuba, Kan., and passed away at the Washington County hospital in Washington, May 5, 1962, at the age of 76 years five months and 27 days.

When a young man he homesteaded in Washington county Colorado, where he met and later married Blanche Scheesley. They were married June 18, 1913. To this union were born two daughters, Mabel and Mary Louise, and two sons, Robert and Warren.

He and his family returned to Kansas in 1917 and he spend the rest of his life in the Haddam Community. He was a devoted husband and father, and served his community as a member of the Methodist chcurch, the Haddam School Board, and as a County Commissioner for twelve years. He was also a member of the Haddam Masonic Lodge, the Concordia Commandry and the Haddam Eastern Star.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, and his wife Blanche.

He leaves to mourn his death the two daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Mabel) Carpenter of Stockton, Cal., Mrs. Hugh (Mary Louise) Nevins of Monument, Colo., the two sons, Robert of Haddam and Warren of Ordway, Colo., their husbands and wives, nine grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, one sister, Florence Arbuthnot of Fort Morgan, Colo., one brother, Lester Arbuthnot of Greeley, Colo., and a host of friends and relatives.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock, May 8th, 1962, at the Methodist church in Haddam, Kan., with the Rev. Kenard Clark officiating. The interment was made in the Haddam cemetery, immediately north of Haddam. Graveside services were conducted by the Masonic Lodge.
