Ann Arbor News July 4, 1998 Stumpf, Ruth M. Age 90, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 1998 at Hillside Terrace. Born May 1, 1908 in Scio Township, she was the daughter of Otto and Marie (Steinman) Meffert. She was proceeded in death by both husbands, Joseph Hoffman, Jr. in August 1942 and Leslie "Jim" Stumpf in May 1977. Mrs Stumpf was a lifetime member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and retired from the University of Michigan Laundry in 1974 after 24 years of service. She is survived by three sons, Robert (Lee) Hoffman of Ypsilanti, Dale (Mary) Hoffman of Three Rivers, and Lee (Ruth) Hoffman of Saline; one daughter, Mrs. William (June) O'Neill of Dewitt; two step-daughters, Mrs. Erwin (Ann) Egeler of Dexter and Mrs. Jean Latimore of Florida; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by one brother, Donald Meffert of Dearborn. Funeral Service will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church on Monday, July 6, 1998 at 9 A. M. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Maybee, Michigan.
