Opal Kathleen Showalter Siddoway, 75, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on May 7, 2011.

She was born Dec. 17, 1935 in Dixon, Wyo. to C. Roy Showalter and Opal Barnett Showalter.

Mom taught school in the Vernal area for 30 years. She attended schools in Vernal and graduated from Uintah High School in Utah State University.

Kathleen married Lynn Siddoway Feb. 17, 1959 in Las Vegas, Nev. Lynn passed away in 2007.

She grew up a rancher's daughter and as a child she spent her summers living on the family ranch at Slater, Colo.

Kathleen was known as an organized and strict, but fair teacher. She pushed her students to do their best.

Kathleen is survived by her three children: Brett (Cindy) Siddoway Hooper, Utah, Paige Womack (Scott), and Ryan (Angie) Siddoway of Vernal; seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Siddoway, her parents, her sister JoAnn Snyder and her brother Robert Showalter,

Funeral services will be held Friday May 13 at 11 a.m. in the Vernal 5th Ward chapel. Friends may call at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and at the chapel one hour prior to services on Friday.

Burial will be in the Vernal memorial park under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donation be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Utah.
