CARMEN ERCELL LAWTON STOTT, 91, passed into eternal life April 30, 2011, at her home in Texas City.

Visitation will be Friday, May 6, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Texas City at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, with Rev. Michael Holcomb officiating. A Family and Friends Luncheon will follow the service at the church. A private Interment will be held at the Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.

She was born in Norphlet, Arkansas, on October 4, 1919, to Lutha Daniel Lawton and Etta Tullos Lawton. She married Harry W. Stott in Texas City on March 13, 1938, at First Methodist Church. Carmen was a long time member of First United Methodist Church in Texas City and a member of the Order of Eastern Star for over 50 years. In addition, she was an ardent supporter of TCISD's Foundation for the Future.

Mrs. Stott was preceded in death by her husband, Harry W. Stott, daughter C. Elaine Stott, her parents and siblings.

Her survivors include: daughter Patricia E. Sterling and husband Tom of Center, Texas; granddaughter Nancy E. Sterling Garrison and husband Greg of Vance, Alabama; Sharon L. Sterling Valdez and husband Mark of Flower Mound, Texas. Other survivors are great-grandchildren: Bryant Garrison and Matt Garrison and wife Cynthia; and great-great-grandsons Hunter Garrison, Scott and Sean Douglas; and Will Garrison – all of Seabrook, Texas; great-granddaughters Devon Valdez of Frisco, Texas, and Sarah Garrison of Vance, Alabama; and great-grandson Kyle Valdez of Nacogdoches.

Pallbearers will be Bryant Garrison, Matt Garrison, Will Garrison, Kyle Valdez, Greg Garrison, and Mark Valdez.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church at 317 5th Avenue North, Texas City, Texas 77590, or to the charity of one's choice.
