Mrs. Irene Whitfield, 70, of Hayti, died May 21 in Memphis. Born March 3, 1917, in Marshall County, Ala., she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Humphery. She was a housewife and mother and was a member of the Church of Christ in Hayti.
She is survived by one son, Richard Jones of Little Elm, Texas: One sister, Mrs. Annie Morris of Joliet, Ill.; Eight stepchildren; And six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Whitfield, and a son, Franklin Jones.
Services were May 24 at 2 p.m. at John W. German Funeral Home chapel in Hayti, Bob Carrington officiating, with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Franklin and Bart Jones, Donnie Sparks, Warren Dodson, Howard Tillman and Raymond Dawson.
