Margaret Ruth Von Bargen, age 91, of Red Wing, died Saturday, Oct. 2, in the presence of her family, at Fairview Seminary Home.

She was born on Jan. 17, 1919, in Red Wing, to Gustav and Esther Clauson. She attended school in Red Wing. On Jan. 8, 1938, she married Lavern C. Von Bargen. She worked at Red Wing Pottery for a number of years, and also was a seamstress sewing wedding dresses and gowns.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed scenic drives, spending time with grandchildren, traveling, and watching the Minnesota Twins.

She is survived by one son, Larry (Julie) Von Bargen of Red Wing; six grandchildren, Todd (Kelly) Von Bargen, Tracey (Kim) Von Bargen, Gina Schorn, Annetta (Russell) Smith, Tim Von Bargen (Michelle Martin), and Joy (Gary) Hinton; two step-grandchildren, Jodie (David) Chaves and John Simanski; 12 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lavern, on June 12, 1987; one daughter, Myrna Gossett on March 26, 1992; and two sisters, Eleanor Gerken and Adeline Clauson.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at St. John's Lutheran Church with Reverend Loren Lucht officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Russell Smith, Gary Hinton, Todd Von Bargen, Tracey Von Bargen, and Tim Von Bargen. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the church or American Heart Association.
