Nellie Billups, age 59 of Claxton, died Sunday, 2-9-1969 at 3:10am at Oak Ridge Hospital.
She was born March 2, 1910 in South Carolina, the daughter of John Gilliard and Emma Walker Gilliard.
Survivors include husband, Sol James Billups; daughters, Lydia Chappell of Washington, DC, Lillian Pettus of Oka Ridge; son, Bill Kentz of Nicholasville, KY; stepchildren, Ruth Burnett, Tommy Lee and Elbert Billups of New York, Juliette Orr of Flint, MI, Margaret Carlock, Johnny Billups of Athens, TN; 13 grandchildren, 12 step grandchildren; sisters, Mattie Johnson of Cleveland, OH, Elizabeth Clegg of Washington DC, Vernia Young, Azalee Gilliard, both of Knoxville; cousin, Edward Gilliard of LaFollette. Funeral services are Wednesday at 2:30pm at Weatherford Mortuary. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 7-8pm.
