LEMUEL V. VAN SYCKLE, son of William and Julia VanWagoner VanSyckle
was born 9 Aug. 1858 Independence, Oakland Co., MI.

He married (1) ALMIRA (STISSON) FRIDAY 31 Aug. 1898 Holly, Oakland Co., daughter of JOHN STISSON and MARY SHOEMAKER, d. 27 July 1920 Waterford, Oakland Co., MI.

Lemuel married (2) MARY (MANTEEN) EDGAR 2 Mar. 1921 White Lake, Oakland Co.,MI, b. Germany daughter of FRED MATEEN
d. 1 Jan. 1957 Waterford, Oakland Co., MI

An obit published in the PONTIAC (MI) PRESS, 12 JAN. 1957 stated that Lemuel, at age 98, was one of the oldest residents of Oakland County. He died at his home in Waterford Village, where he had lived for the last 50 years of his life.
Lemuel was a stone mason and followed the trade until "close to 70 years of age when he retired to build himself a two-story house of stone".

Lemuel was survived by his daughter, Mrs. Percy Hunt of Pontiac, and three grandchildren and eleven great granchildren. He was a member of Cedar Lodge No.60 F & M of Clarkston.
