Alice died at the age of 26 during the Spanish Flu epidemic of 1918. I read a recent book about the flu and it said the most deaths occurred among pregnant women. It was her misfortune to be pregnant at the time she contracted the illness. Most of the people who died were between the ages of 20 and 40. It was actually their strong immune response to the infection that killed them. Pretty scary, huh?

She was survived by her oldest son, Alston Leslie Levesque and by the baby, Gaston Paul Adolphe Levesque, Jr. Her family split up after her death. Her children went to live with her parents, John Walter Bofill and Josephine Yeager. Her husband moved back home with his parents, Adolphe Paul Levesque and Clemence Scharniski.

Buried in the Jager vault #41 in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery in New Orleans along with other family members including her grandfather, Paul Yeager.

Copy of birth certificate in possession of Sherri Park states: "May 6,1892 at her residence was born a female child named Alice Bofill (white) lawful issue of Jno. W. Bofill, a native of La. aged 23 years, occupation, painter and Josephine Yaeger, a native of La. aged 21 years."
