An avid caregiver and community volunteer, she will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, incandescent smile, faith in God and, most recently, her courage through months of great adversity.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, John H. Varner; her three children, Janet Conboy and her husband, Rick of Matthews, N.C., John Varner Jr. of Farmville, and Patricia Varner and her husband, Rusty Breeden of Glen Allen, Va.; her two brothers, George Tapscott and his wife, Kitty of Richmond, and Harold Tapscott and his wife, Mary Lou of Okeechobee, Fla.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2007, at Doyne-Burger-Davis Funeral Home in Farmville. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 4, at the Farmville United Methodist Church, followed by a graveside service at Antioch United Methodist Church of Cumberland.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Farmville United Methodist Church, Meals-on-Wheels, the Prince Edward Rescue Squad, the Antioch United Methodist Church, or a charity of your choice.
