William (Soupie) Lutton, 69, father of both a Muncie policeman and a fireman, died at his home, 1507 W. Twelfth St., at 4 a.m. Saturday after an extended illness.
Mr. Lutton had a colorful army career which included service in the Mexican Border uprising in old Company G and service overseas during World War I with the 42nd "Rainbow" Division. He was a member of the Last Man's Club of Company G and was a charter member of VFW, Post 651. Born in Illinois, he had lived in Muncie 37 years.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys; seven sons, Vernon, a Muncie fireman; Raymond, a Muncie policeman; Pfc. Robert Lutton, with the army at Ft. Jackson, S.C.; Pvt. William J. Lutton, with the army at Ft. Lawton, Wash.; George of Muncie, Donald and James, at home.
Also surviving are two daughters, Miss Alice Lutton and Miss Beverly Sue Lutton, both at home; two grandchildren and one brother, Edward of Muncie.
The body was removed to the Parson Mortuary where funeral arrangements will be announced later.
