William(Bill) Smith lived in McIntosh Co. All his life. He was a farmer
Until Queenie had a severe stroke, then they moved in with Aaron and
Thelma. He had a butcher shop between the Sweerus store and Dr.Longs
Drug store.
He was known to most people as "Uncle Bill" but to me he was the best Grandpa ever. He would tell us stories about when he was young and floated logs on rafts down the Altamaha River to Darien. Sounded dangerous and fun. He said snakes would fall out of trees onto the rafts
when the water was high. A lot of good memories!!
Bill had one daughter,Thelma Smith Sweerus and two granddaughters,
Billy Sweerus Crawford and Marjorie Sweerus Bell.
His siblings are Olive S.Middleton,Elizabeth S.Clubb,Ann S.Rozier,
Hettie S.Middleton,Janie S.Poppell,Katie S.Sapp,Louisa S.Tilston,and
Bertrom(Bert) Smith.
