The funeral of Captain William Lorenz, who died Wednesday after an illness of three months, will be held from the family residence, 607 Bluff Avenue, at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Reverend Father F.E. Murphy will officiate and interment will be made at the North Side Catholic cemetery. The services are to be private.
Captain Lorenz was born in Oland, Sweden, March 14, 1845, and came to this country in 1865. Since 1869, he has resided in Sheboygan. From his sixteenth year Captain Lorenz was connected with the sea, and during his maritime career he visited in nearly every port in the world. For many years he was interested in boats and tugs which sailed the Great Lakes but retired from active work fifteen years ago.
Captain Lorenz is survived by five daughters and four sons. They are the Misses Regina, Matilda and Esther Lorenz, Mrs. George B. Wheelock of Sheboygan and Mrs. Kenneth Osman of Faribault, Minn., John W. Lorenz of Chicago, William E. Lorenz of New York, Fred J. Lorenz of Des Moines, Iowa, and George Lorenz of this city.

Captain William Lorenz was born in Olend, Sweden, March 14, 1845. Shipped first from Hamburg, Germany, on ship "L. A. Bong" for Australia, at the age of 16. Sailed to the East Indies and to France. After four years came to New York and sailed from there on different ships to Mediterranean sea ports until 1868, then came to Chicago, where he remained a year, then came to Sheboygan, where he went before the mast on the schooner "Evening Star", with Captain C. G. Anderson, afterward mate of the schooner "City of Sheboygan", "J.O. Thayer", and "Pride".
Then was captain of schooner "Granger" from August, 1880 until 1882, when he took command of the scow "Nellie Church" for three years, and in 1886 the schooner "Joseph Duvall". The next season he commanded the schooner "Lydia E. Razer". After sailing this vessel for two seasons, he bought the schooner "Quickstep", which was the last boat he sailed. Captain Lorenz retired from active life in 1906, and died in 1925.
