Theodore "Ted" W. Luhman, age 89, of Arapahoe, Nebraska died on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Cambridge, Nebraska. He was born on February 9, 1922 at Cambridge, Nebraska to William G. & Martha (Frank) Luhman.

He was raised near Holbrook, Nebraska and graduated from Holbrook High School. After high school he went on to Midwest School for Welding in Omaha, Nebraska. Upon finishing school, he went to Vancouver, Washington to work in the shipyards as a welder. He would then enter the U.S. Navy. On June 6, 1948 he married Elfrieda Bloch at Immanuel Lutheran Church north of Arapahoe, Nebraska. They made their home at Arapahoe were Ted would work for Gus Martin at the Blacksmith Shop in Arapahoe, Nebraska for 10 years. He would then work heavy equipment for Mosbarger & Ems Construction, before starting his construction company, Ted Luhman Construction. He built many dams and terraces and did various dirt work for local farmers. He would also work for the Furnas County Roads Department out of Arapahoe, Nebraska for 20 years before retiring. In his spare time and during retirement, he enjoyed working with steam engines. He would travel to various Antique Tractor Shows and help run their steam engines. He was honored as Grand Marshal at the Tractor Parade during Old Trusty Days in Clay Center, Nebraska. He was a member of several Steam Engine Associations and the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, Nebraska.

Ted is preceded in death by his parents, Son-In-Law Lynn E. Huxoll, Brother-In-Laws: Clarence Schmid, Harold, Walter, Leonard, & Emil Bloch Jr., Sister-In-Law Elvira Bloch.

Ted is survived by his wife Elfrieda Luhman of Arapahoe, Nebraska; Daughter: Jennette Huxoll of Arapahoe, Nebraska; Mary & husband Kelvin Wolzen of Sutton, Nebraska; Sister: Dorothy Schmid of Aurora, Colorado; 5 Grandchildren: 9 Great Grandchildren: Brother-In-Law: Edwin Bloch of Arapahoe, Nebraska; Sister-In-Law: Elda & husband Kenneth Stillman of Arapahoe, Nebraska; Karen Way of Omaha, Nebraska; Pauline Bloch of Lincoln, Nebraska; Shirley Bloch of Wichita, Kansas and a host of relatives and friends.
