Hold Rites Friday for Retired Farmer

CHARLES CITY - Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Flood Creek Methodist Church for Henry E. Adolphs, 85, who died Tuesday afternoon at the Cedar Valley Hospital where he had been a patient since Sunday. Death was the result of a heart ailment. The Rev. Charles Fort, former pastor, will officiate and burial will be in the Flood Creek Cemetery.

Mr. Adolphs farmed in Ulster Township for many years until his retirement. Born in Germany, March 1, 1867, he was married at Flood Creek in Floyd County, Sept. 28, 1893, to Martha Daake. His wife survives as do two daughters, Mrs. Walter Willert, of Rockford, and Mrs. Henry Marth of Ulster Township, nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. One brother, Ernest Adolphs of Washougal, Wash., and a sister, Mrs. Doris Meyer of Swaledale, also survive. Three sons, two brothers and two sisters, preceded him in death
